Certainly, this is the type of blind I first heard about and remained the only one I knew of for many years. A Venetian blind is slatted, using horizontal slats placed one above the other. They have normally been suspended by strips of cloth (tapes) or more frequently today by blind cords.
Venetian blinds are quite basic slatted blinds and are often made of plastic of various qualities. With poor quality plastic slat you may well find individual slats buckling and bending over time, especially in offices with many inexperienced users passing through; the same could be said of children using Venetian blind cords and finding that they are quite fun to be played with. If you have children in the house, they do need to be properly trained to use any sort of blinds; there are always safety issues to be borne in mind too when there are children around tempted by dangling cords of any type.
If you buy new Venetian blinds they should come with the appropriate cord; I would personally recommend having them installed professional by the store from which you buy them. However Venetian blinds like others can be bought online from some specialist stores, even major stores like Amazon, so if you fancy the DIY temptation and you know what you want, then buying online will be attractive to some people. Remember to take and delivery costs into account when comparing with local stores which might deliver and install your blinds for free.
